How long does cosmetic tattooing actually last?

Cosmetic tattooing sits in a soft space between makeup and traditional tattooing. The pigments are designed to soften and fade — that's the point. So when a client asks how long their brows or lips will last, the honest answer is: it depends, beautifully, on you.
As a guideline: powder brows hold their colour for 12 – 24 months, eyeliner for 2 – 5 years, and lip blush for 2 – 4 years. We always include a perfecting session 6 – 8 weeks after your first appointment to settle the colour and refine the shape.
Skin type matters most. Oily skin breaks pigment down faster — those clients usually re-touch every 12 months. Mature, drier skin can hold colour gracefully for two years or more. Sun exposure is the single biggest fade factor; a 30 SPF on the area is a small daily habit that pays back in colour years.
Active skincare — retinols, AHA/BHA, vitamin C — will lift pigment too. You don't have to give them up; just keep them off the tattooed area. Saunas, swimming pools and tanning beds accelerate fade as well.
Touch-ups every 12 – 18 months keep your work looking like the day you first walked out of the cottage. They're shorter, lighter, and gentler than the first session — a small ritual rather than a big day.
